What IS a TCG?

A TCG, or Trading Card Game, works just like trading cards in real life: there are some cards you want to collect, and those you do not want, you trade. With the slight difference that you don't get actual cards. Instead, you get cute little bits of pixels that we will call cards ^_^
This particular TCG is focused around music and music-related stuff, and we might -just might- be a little bit obsessed with Jared Leto and his band, but don't let that scare you =D

Why is it called a Record Label in the start?

Because we are secretly a record label looking for--- wait, what? Jokes aside, it's because we want to actually form part of the music industry, and what has a lot of bands in it with CD covers and stuff? That's right, a record label. That doesn't actually have anything to do with the way of playing, it only changes the names of the activities/parts of the site, and the fact that here you don't want to rise levels, but work in the music industry.

How does Prelude work?

After reading this entire page, you will proceed to the join section, where you'll read the admission policy (rules) and fill out a possible contract (form).

Once your contract has been sent, we'll get back to you in no more than a week, and you'll get a starter pack.

The starter pack

It consists of three cards of your set of choice, six random normal cards, and one random special card, making a total of 10 cards.

Once you have your starter pack, you need to have a site to put your cards up (it can be Freewebs, Geocities, LiveJournal, pretty much anything). Your site can be done however you want, but it must include the following things:
- your card count/card worth
- a detailed trade log of how you get all your cards
- a rank in the music world (level badge)
- a link to Prelude

We reccomend that you join the forums for extra activities like trading with other artists. Keep in mind that you can only claim rewards for leveling up and mastering sets through the forum.

Now all that's left is for you to start participating and earning cards, and of course, trading them!

The cards

There are a few different types of cards here at Prelude:

Normal cards: These cards feature music videos, and are worth one;
Puzzle cards: These cards are puzzles of CD covers, and are also worth one;
Special cards: These cards are harder to obtain, and are worth 2. They feature bands and band members.
Site-related cards: These are worth the most: 3 cards! They can't be obtained through games or else. The only way to get a hold of them is through the updates, or on your birth month (such is the case of birthday cards).

The levels

Once you reach a certain amount of cards, and achieve the required goals, you get to level up. The levels and requirements to advance through the levels are as follows:

- Fan: 01-50 cards - no requirement.
- Stalker: 51-100 cards - requires having a member card.
- Wannabe: 101-199 cards - requires mastering two sets of any kind.
- Backsatge worker: 200-299 cards - requires mastering four sets and at least one of those must be a puzzle set.
- Tech: 300-399 cards - requires mastering seven sets.
- Music critic: 400-549 cards - requires mastering nine sets, and at least one of those must be a special set.
- Manager: 550-699 cards - requires mastering twelve sets.
- Lyricist: 700-849 cards - requires mastering thirteen sets, and at least two of those must be puzzle sets and other two must be special sets.
- Musician: 850-999 cards - requires mastering fifteen sets.
- Frontman: 1000-1499 cards - requires mastering twenty sets.
- Jared Leto: 1500+ cards - requires mastering twenty-six sets.

The rewards

~ Each time you level up you'll be rewarded with two random cards worth one and one card of choice worth one.

~ For each video set you master, you'll recieve three random cards worth one and two cards of choice worth one.

~ For each puzzle set you master, you'll recieve three random cards worth one, two cards of choice worth one, and a random special card.

~ For each special set you master, you'll recieve three random cards worth one, two cards of choice worth one, a random special card, and one special card of choice.

~ Once you reach level eleven, you'll recieve a reward every 500 cards you get.

Currency

As expected, in this industry we work with money. But not just any kind of money. In here, our currency is in the form of musical notes:

The Eighth: they're worth one. These are the most common notes.

The Quarter: they're worth two. These are a bit harder to get, but they're worth twice what the Eighths are worth.

Notes can be obtained by playing games, and sometimes through the forum or in updates. You can use them to buy stuff in our store.

Also, don't freak out if you see them change colors! It's perfectly normal =)

We also play!

In a very Pete Wentz & Patrick Stump way, we also are part of the label, not only the owners. We want to have fun, so we play the game as well. With a few restrictions of course:

- we do not play the games that require a specific answer

- we get paid in cards weekly for running the site. Lauchis puts the music and gets 14 cards and LadyRocket for the words gets 12.
